Iona Beach I, Isle of Iona - Original SOLD

£0.00

A path through the dunes, the North East Shore known as the White Strand of the Monks (Traigh Ban nam Manach) on the Isle of Iona.

Just a short boat trip from the Isle of Mull, the ferry is full of passengers making the pilgrimage to the famous Iona Abbey established in 563. The tiny island of Iona is surrounded by beautiful turquoise water and white sandy beaches, no wonder it became a favourite location of the Scottish artists Francis Cadell and Samuel Peploe who formed a large part of the Scottish Colourist movement in the 1930’s and are a great inspiration to me. I had the finest weather to enjoy my visit and spent hours exploring, sketching and taking photographs on the beaches.

Isle of Iona, Inner Hebrides, Scotland.
